UKPro POV 30 case
There are basically three options for storage and transportation when it comes to GoPro cameras – a soft bag, a soft case and a hard case. They all have their advantages and disadvantages but today I will take a look at UKPro POV 30 case and see what`s it all bout.
What UKPro sais about the product:
“The POV 30 waterproof case offers rugged protection for your GoPro camera and accessories. The premium two toned custom cut foam stores contents in an organized upper and lower tray system. The Pressure Latch ensures easy opening after changes in altitude and the Silicone O-ring ensures a watertight seal. The POV 30 also comes with a handy strap with a carabiner so you can latch it onto just about anything.”
This pretty much sums it up pretty accurately. The UKPro POV 30 case is a great hard case to store your GoPro accessories and is meant for the heavy-duty user. The case is made of tough plastic and closes with a latch that will keep water away. So you can pretty much take the case swimming or carry it around in a pouring rain.
A lot of the soft cases are pretty water tight but they usually come with a zipper so that is the weakest part where water and dust can reach your gear. With UKPro POV 30 case this issue is eliminated. Of course, if you only use the case to store your gear and never worry about water getting to your GoPro then you don`t need that feature. It`s good to know though that you have an extra level of protection.
The case has a small pressure equalizer thingy in the front of the case. It`s a small rubber valve – I have no idea how this works – but it will make it easier to open the case when the air pressure has changed. This actually is a really handy feature and you might not even realize the importance of it.
Imagine taking your GoPro and snapping a photo in a plane. You put the camera back in it`s watertight case and once the plane lands the pressure difference makes it really hard to open the GoPro housing latch- it has happened to me and it`s nice to know it will never happen to the UKPro POV 30 case.
But enough of that…
What`s inside UKPro POV 30 case and what can you fit in it?
Well, the case has two sections or “floors” the top floor has cutouts in the foam for GoPro (with an attached quick-release plate) two cutouts for batteries and a bigger cutout that you can store any other gear you want – the WiFi remote for example.
The foam itself is two-.colored, with black on the outside and bright blue on the inside. It`s definitely more sturdy than the foam that you get in the cheap Chinese cases…
The bottom floor is pretty much just one big compartment lined with foam. So this is where you can throw all your additional gear in that you don`t use that often. It fits cables, screws, batteries, pivot arms, mounts, a small power bank etc. Since it doesn`t have any sections and separators it has more room for gear but they are not organized like the top section.
The UKPro POV 30 case also features a carabiner attached to the side with a removable strap, so you can attach the case to practically anywhere. You can clip it on your backpack and save some valuable room inside the backpack or clip it on your belt for easy access.
The case comes in two colors: black and white. And although white seems like a strange choice for something you might want to drag along in extreme conditions, it looks better 🙂 But that`s just personal taste.
Btw, the plastic is surprisingly scratch resistant – I`m not sure if this is a thought out decision by UKPro to invest in some sort of really high-grade materials but I managed to drop the case twice on concrete pavement and there is not a single mark on the case! I am really impressed!
So it`s a really solid (figuratively and literally) case to fit your most essential GoPro gear into it, but if you have more than one camera and bigger mounts and a more stuff you need something bigger. For most of the users, it`s about the perfect size and capacity!
