The time to spend all your hard earned money is here again! Christmas 2016 is only a few weeks away and if you want to be prepared and grab the best deals online you better start preparing.

If you are considering getting a GoPro for Christmas for yourself of for a friend or a family member you are on the right tracks!

But GoPro with it`s unique features and limitations might not be for everyone. Let`s take a look at all the pros and cons of getting a GoPro for Christmas.

PROS: GoPro for Christmas

Budget – you can score the new GoPro HERO5 for around 450 USD and HERO5 session for 340 USD. This is not exactly cheap but for a camera this good it`s a great deal.

Durable – GoPro cameras are known for the ability to take a beating. We have all seen the stories of GoPros that have survived horrific crashes and found at the bottom of the sea still intact after many years and this is why a GoPro might be a good idea if you are considering buying a camera for your kid. You can feel at ease and not worry about your kids breaking the precious gadget when playing around with it. Not going to even mention the endless possibilities of using the camera in action sports or dangerous situations because that`s kind of the point of the camera.

Compact – It`s freakin’ small. It`s so good to have your camera with you at all times because you never know when you end up in a situation that will get you the million dollar shot! Yes, most of us carry a smartphone with us and the cameras on those things are getting better and better but will you pull out your phone in pouring rain or dare to snap a photo when there`s even the slightest chance you might drop it and break the glass in a million pieces? NO. A GoPro is small enough to fit in your pocket so it will always be with you when you need it the most.

Wide angle – Trying to fit everything in a single shot can sometimes turn out to be an impossible task. When you only have a few feet to back up and you want to get all your friends in the shot or take a video in a crowded place then the GoPro trademark wide-angle lens will be irreplaceable.

Remote controlled – You can control the camera with your smartphone (Download the app here) with a WiFi remote control device or if you have the new GoPro HERO5 you can use voice commands. This feature is really handy if you want to set the camera and get on the picture yourself or if you attach the camera in hard to reach places.

Accessories – There are so many unique and useful accessories that really help you get the most out of your camera. Different poles, tripods and attachments to get the crazy angles you need. Batteries and chargers to keep you going, filters for diving and stabilizers for cinematic, professional looking footage. Everyone will find a good accessory for the budget they have.

CONS: GoPro for Christmas

Budget – Although the price is not that steep it can be a dealbreaker for some. 400 dollars is a price that might make you think a bit longer if a GoPro camera is something you really want or if the money is better spent on something else. Hopefully, this little blog post will help you make up your mind.

Wide angle – For some, the wide angle is a perfect fit in most of the situations but the  extreme wide angle is not for everyone since it distorts the image. Before you commit to buying take a look at the images taken with the camera and if you think this is a bit much then you might want to look at something else. You can, of course, zoom in to neutralize the effect a bit but you will then lose some quality.

CONCLUSION: GoPro for Christmas

This is all up to you! A GoPro camera has it`s different unique features that separate it from the camera phones and regular point-and-shoot cameras so sit down, take a deep breath and really think this through.

If you decide to get a GoPro for Christmas then HIGH-FIVE! and welcome to the family 🙂

Can you think of any other PRO or CON to add to this list?
